Sharing your success stories

June 17, 2014

We are surrounded everyday by inspiring members who are committed to staying active for life and we want to share their success stories. Nominated by our staff, the CGC Member of the Month is profiled on our website, in our monthly e-newsletter and on a dedicated notice board within the Centre. And as our way of saying thank you and rewarding them for all of their hard work, they receive an extra month on their membership.

We hope you’ll continue to share your goals with us. You never know, the next Member of the Month could be you!

I have been an avid runner for many years, running 5 times a week and completing the Bluenose half-marathon on several occasions. It was the one form of exercise I had a passion for and unfortunately my ability to run came to a complete stop due to an injury suffered this past winter. Due to icy conditions I had slipped and suffered a hyper-extension of my Tibia. I was in a cast then brace for several months, then came the physio therapy. I am at the point where I have been instructed to strengthen my knee with various exercises on my own and I have found CGC to be an ideal place to continue my rehabilitation. The workout room with stationary bikes , treadmills and leg strengthening equipment have everything needed for me to continue my recovery. Finally, the pool and hot tub are perfect for low impact exercise and therapy needed for this type of injury. Thanks to the Canada Games Centre for having first class facilities in helping me on my way to be able to tackle those marathons again.
