New Drop-in Fitness Schedule

Runs June 1st - June 30th

May 22, 2015

Get ready…set…fit!

We’re excited to announce the release of our Summer 2015 Drop-in Group Fitness Schedule for the month of June.

As the temperature warms up outside, we know you’ll want to take advantage of it, so although the class line-up is a little leaner, you will be too. The summer schedules are designed to help you maximize your indoor workout time and stay fit for whatever summer has planned for you. Here are a few schedule highlights:

  • 46 class options every week including interval training, spin, yoga, pilates, aquafit and Zumba. Mix and match high- and low-intensity workouts to help meet your summer fitness and recovery goals.
  • A few class name changes to help you identify what type of workout to expect without having to read the description. But we’ve updated the descriptions too!
  • Great, superstar instructor line-up, full of your favourites and some new, sure to be favourites — all certified in the classes and techniques they teach, to ensure you’re getting quality movements while reducing risk of injury.

There’s something for everyone and we encourage you to try them all, then give us your feedback. Our Fitness & Wellness Coordinator would love to hear from you at galem@canadagamescentre.ca or 902.490.2249

while I understand not everyone will enjoy going to the gym during the hot days of summer, I for one am not a fan of the heat and having an air conditioned facility to go to for classes are welcome, although you do have an assortment of classes available, your schedule continues to cater to people who are apparently not working or have schedules that allow them to attend the typical 9-5 schedule…. The three classes that I have come to enjoy..wed night Zumba, sat am Zumba conditioning and Sun am Step…are all gone….I am thrilled to Pumped is added to Saturday morning, but no cardio to replace Sunday morning step….and The instructor for Wednesday night Zumba is fantastic, not sure I will continue my family membership as classes that I can participate in are extremely limited

Thank you Melanie, Tyra and Suzanne for your messages. Classes can disappear from the schedule for the summer for a variety of reasons, such as instructor availability and class attendance. That said though, we look to members and class participants like yourselves to help us keep classes full and provide feedback. Your comments have been forwarded to our Fitness & Wellness Coordinator, as we create the schedule for July and August.

Could you post the July drop in schedule? Also, wondering if the track will be staffed full time with the addition of the equipment from the fitness centre moving to the track? If some equipment is restricted to 14+, who will be there to supervise that? I’m wondering why such a large area of the faculty is not permanently staffed like every other area, the field house , pool and fitness centre?

    Thanks,

      Hi Joan,

Thank you for your message. The Drop-in Fitness Schedule for July 2nd – Sept 7th has been posted (http://canadagamescentre.ca/fitness/group-fitness-schedule/), but if you’re having trouble viewing it try refreshing your browser. If you’re still having trouble accessing it, email info@canadagamescentre.ca or call Customer Service at 902.490.2400 ext 7 and we’d love to help you sort it out.

With the increase in equipment available on the Track, we will also increase supervision, especially during peak times. The Track, though a large area, experiences a different usage pattern than the other areas of the facility. To match the current usage pattern and maximize our staffing, we do not have staff permanently stationed on the Track. However Field House and Fitness Centre staff monitor the Track and are supported by both the Coordinators in those areas (during the day) and the Coordinator on Duty (in the evening). With these recent changes on the Track, we will be assessing if a shift to permanent staffing will be required moving forward.

If you have any other questions about the equipment move, Track supervision or Fitness classes, please feel free to reach out directly to our Fitness & Wellness Coordinator Melanie at galem@canadagamescentre.ca.

Hope you have a great day and wonderful weekend!
